Horn Explore Gateways was founded to change the story of tourism in the Horn of Africa: from extractive and disconnected to community-led, regenerative and just. We partner with village councils, elders, local entrepreneurs, women’s cooperatives and youth groups to ensure benefits reach the people who host our guests.

Somaliland — Laas Geel & Cultural Heritage

Walk among some of the oldest, most vivid rock paintings in the region. Laas Geel’s rock art dates back thousands of years and offers a rare window into early pastoral life and belief systems in the Horn of Africa. Our Somaliland journeys combine cultural visits, market experiences, and community-hosted homestays.

Ethiopia — Lalibela & Living Traditions

Experience the spiritual power of Lalibela’s 11 rock-hewn churches — an architectural and religious treasure carved from volcanic rock centuries ago and recognized for its global cultural value. Our Ethiopia programs connect you to ancient Christian and Oromo, Amhara, and other living traditions through local guides and pilgrim hospitality.
